The American Trucking Associations’ Women in Motion (WIM) Council and Trucker Path have identified the top three women-friendly truck stops in the U.S. These highlighted locations meet a full set of safety and amenity standards while earning high marks from women drivers.
The announcement, made April 21, reflects a growing industry push to improve conditions for women behind the wheel. Among the concerns women have at truck stops are safety, lighting, and access to essential facilities.
Women-Friendly Criteria Drive Rankings
The WIM designation is based on seven criteria developed from input by women drivers:
- Lighted parking
- Lighted bathroom access
- Lighted lounge areas
- Lighted showers
- Lighted laundry facilities
- 24/7 maintenance
- On-site security.
Truck stops that meet all seven standards and receive strong user ratings in the Trucker Path app were eligible for the Top 3 list.

The highest-rated locations are:
- Compass Travel Center in DeMotte, Indiana
- Garden Inn Truck Plaza in Mound City, Missouri
- Talent Truck Stop in Talent, Oregon
Compass Travel Center also ranked No. 25 on Trucker Path’s broader Top 100 Truck Stops list.
App Data Highlights Growing Adoption
Trucker Path integrated WIM-specific search functionality into its platform in 2024, allowing drivers to filter stops based on safety-focused amenities.
Since then, more than 12,000 truck stops have added information about at least one WIM-friendly feature, while nearly 250 locations now offer all seven.
The WIM section of the app has been accessed more than 64 million times, underscoring strong demand for this type of information.
Safety Remains a Top Concern
Access to safe parking continues to be a leading challenge for women drivers, according to WIM.
Industry leaders say improvements in lighting, security, and facility access are critical to driver well-being — not just convenience.
Nikki Thomas, ATA vice president of industry affairs, said expanding safe stopping options has been a key focus for the group, noting that partnerships with platforms like Trucker Path have encouraged truck stop operators to upgrade amenities.
Drivers can use the Trucker Path app to search routes and filter for WIM-friendly features, while truck stop operators can add or update their amenity profiles within the platform.
