Briefly: Trucker shot and wounded in apparent road range incident in Texas -

A trucker was shot during what is suspected to have been a road rage incident on Interstate 35 in San Antonio, Texas Monday afternoon.

San Antonio Police said the apparent road rage incident caused a major accident on the city’s northeast side Monday at about 3:30 p.m.

Police told KENS-TV a driver of a tractor-trailer and the driver of a dark colored sedan got into a supposed road rage incident. The driver of the sedan pulled out a gun and shot the trucker in the leg.

The 36-year-old truck driver was taken to a local hospital and the shooter was detained. The suspect, identified by police as Jose Israel Teran, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The contribution from the TXTA Foundation will help amplify the campaign’s message, ensuring that the stories of trucking professionals reach a wider audience. The initiative seeks to remind Americans that their daily conveniences and necessities are made possible by the tireless efforts of the trucking industry.

Truck stop group names interim CEO

NATSO, which represents the nation’s truck stops, travel centers, and off-highway fuel retailers, announced Darren Boyd Schulte has been named interim chief executive officer, overseeing all business operations for the association. He follows Lisa Mullings, who served as CEO for 20 years before announcing plans to step down and pursue other opportunities.

Schulte joined NATSO in 2012 as vice president of membership.

Schulte is a seasoned executive with almost four decades of experience in the truck stop and travel center industry. A statement from NATSO said Schulte brings a wide range of expertise spanning operations, retail merchandising, marketing and member engagement. He has led numerous executive and management teams, held positions directly impacting thousands of employees, and managed multi-million-dollar operating budgets. Schulte also voluntarily mentors numerous executives within and outside the travel center and truck stop space.
