Chris Backeberg has been appointed president of Daimler Trucks Remarketing (DTR), effective Jan. 6, Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) announced in a news release.
Backeberg will oversee all aspects of DTNA’s used truck operations, including the SelecTrucks premium used truck brand and retail network, which spans corporate-owned and dealer-licensed stores. His responsibilities will also include strategic fleet deal involvement for used truck trade and residual commitments, risk portfolio management, inventory management, pricing, warranty, training, marketing, and a multi-channel sales strategy.
DTNA says this position is critical for maintaining Freightliner and Western Star market share and residual values.
Backeberg brings more than 20 years of experience at Daimler Truck, having held roles in sales, marketing, and business excellence. He began his career with the company in 1998, working with the Sterling brand, and has since worked across nearly all of DTNA’s products.
Backeberg’s most recent role was director of digital experience marketing, and prior to that, he served as director of national accounts.
“Chris’s extensive experience and deep understanding of our industry make him the ideal leader for Daimler Trucks Remarketing,” said David Carson, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at DTNA, in a release. “We are confident that under his leadership, Daimler Trucks Remarketing will continue to thrive and deliver outstanding results for our customers and stakeholders.”
