Torc Robotics hires vice-president of engineering for autonomy applications
Torc Robotics, an independent subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has appointed Rebeca Delgado vice-president of engineering for autonomy applications, overseeing the company’s feature and model Development groups.
Delgado joins Torc with more than 20 years of experience in semiconductors, edge computing, and automotive systems. She most recently served as chief technology officer and senior principal AI engineer at Intel Automotive, where she led the Automotive CTO office and helped define the company’s “whole vehicle” compute strategy, according to a news release.
Delgado has shaped edge high-performance compute products and roadmaps for autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems, and mobility-as-a-service platforms, Torc said, adding she has worked with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to tailor solutions for intelligent vehicle systems, blending technical expertise with strategic leadership.
Motive appoints Whitman to board of directors
Motive has appointed Meg Whitman, former chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard and eBay, to its board of directors.
Whitman brings more than three decades of executive and public sector leadership experience. She most recently served as U.S. ambassador to Kenya from 2022 to 2024. Earlier in her career, she was president and CEO of Hewlett-Packard from 2011 to 2015. From 1998 to 2008, she led eBay as president and CEO, guiding the company through a period of global expansion.
“Meg’s track record of scaling global businesses at eBay and driving operational transformation at Hewlett-Packard will be invaluable as we extend our AI leadership, enter new markets, and help our customers tackle their most complex challenges,” said Shoaib Makani, CEO and co-founder of Motive, in a news release.
Daimler Truck appoints Johnson head of global communications
Daimler Truck AG has named Andy Johnson its new head of global communications and external affairs, effective Jan. 1, 2026. He succeeds Jörg Howe, who is retiring after 17 years.
Johnson, currently head of corporate communications at Daimler Truck North America, began his career with the company in 1991 as a material handler. Over more than three decades, he has advanced into marketing and communications leadership roles, recognized for his clarity, leadership, and storytelling approach in shaping the brand across North America, Daimler said in an announcement.
Johnson will oversee global communications strategy, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and ensure consistent messaging.
“With Andy, we gain a highly passionate and inspiring leader with extensive expertise in communications and a proven track record in our strategically important North American market,” said Karin Rådström, CEO of Daimler Truck. “His deep industry knowledge, international perspective, and commitment to strong collaboration make him the ideal choice at the right time to further strengthen our culture.”
Q-Line founders inducted into Saskatchewan Transportation Hall of Fame
Q-Line founders Reg and Russ Quiring have been inducted into the Saskatchewan Transportation Hall of Fame, recognized for nearly four decades of contributions to the province’s trucking industry, according to a LinkedIn post.
The brothers launched the business in 1986 with a single truck on the family farm. It has since grown into a North American carrier with multiple locations, specialized divisions, and the capacity to handle complex freight.
PlusAI forms safety, policy advisory council
PlusAI has established a safety and policy advisory council to guide the company on regulatory, safety, and operational strategies as it prepares to launch factory-built autonomous trucks in 2027.
“The safe and successful commercialization of autonomous trucks requires more than breakthrough technology—it demands close partnerships with trucking industry leaders, federal and state regulators and policymakers,” said Shawn Kerrigan, chief operating officer and co-founder of PlusAI.
The council includes former executives, policymakers, and regulators with decades of experience shaping trucking safety standards, legislation, and business development in the U.S., according to a news release.
Inaugural members include Andrew Boyle, former co-president of Boyle Transportation and past chairman of the American Trucking Associations; Jeff Denham, former U.S. Congressman from California; Sue Lawless, former acting deputy administrator and chief safety officer at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration; Spencer R. Moore, former commissioner of Georgia’s Department of Driver Services and past chairman of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators; and Dan Van Alstine, former president and chief operating officer of Ruan Transportation.
