Trucker Path is integrating cargo theft trend data from Verisk CargoNet into its navigation platform, giving drivers and fleets greater visibility into theft-prone areas as cargo crime continues to climb across the United States.
The new capability, announced June 23, embeds cargo theft risk information directly into Trucker Path’s navigation tools, allowing drivers to identify higher-risk locations and make more informed routing and parking decisions.

According to the companies, Verisk CargoNet recorded 1,120 cargo theft incidents during the first five months of 2026, representing more than $121 million in estimated losses.
“Cargo security continues to be a growing concern for fleets and drivers,” said Chris Oliver, chief marketing officer at Trucker Path. “By incorporating a Verisk CargoNet theft cloud overlay in Trucker Path, drivers will instantly know when they’re in high theft areas. That level of heightened awareness will lead to proactive deterrence.”
The new feature adds cargo theft intelligence to a platform already used by drivers for truck-specific navigation, parking availability, fuel pricing, weigh station status, and other operational information.
Using Verisk CargoNet data, users can view theft risk ratings by county, categorized as low, medium, or high risk. The system also provides monthly updates on stolen vehicle counts, identifies the most frequently targeted commodity categories, and highlights common theft methods, including cargo-only thefts, full truck thefts, and trailer thefts.
Drivers can also filter risk information by severity to focus on areas with the highest levels of cargo theft activity.
The companies said cargo theft remains heavily concentrated in major freight hubs and logistics corridors. According to Verisk, California, Texas, and New Jersey accounted for more than half of all cargo theft incidents during the first quarter of 2026. Warehouses, distribution centers, and truck stops continue to be among the most common locations targeted by thieves.
“Cargo theft insights can help transportation companies reduce exposure to theft and improve safety for drivers,” said Ryan Shepherd, general manager of Verisk CargoNet. “Theft risk is increasingly tied to specific locations and operational environments, particularly in high-density logistics regions and common stop points along freight routes. Integrating this data directly into navigation tools helps close a critical visibility gap for drivers and fleet operators.”
