The entrepreneurs competing in this week’s Texas Startup Pitch Fest have been revealed, as have the judges for the event, which beings at 5 p.m. Thursday at the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization, 1304 E. Adams St.
Startup Texas is a partnership between the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center (ECC).
The seven entrepreneur/contestants include Rodrigo Burberg, who will be pitching his idea for VinHX.com/CarInspections.com, a comprehensive suite of services to empower car buyers and owners with important information regarding purchasing and maintenance; Oshun Cruz, pitching Rewear.AI, a streamlined, AI-powered technology to make it easier to sell used clothing; Mario Gonzalez, pitching Yardly, a user-friendly lawn care subscription service; and Daniel Pizana, pitching PayMyLawyer LLC, a comprehensive legal payment processing platform for attorneys and legal professionals.
Also competing on Thursday are Steve Perez, pitching Velox Global Solutions LLC, using technology to streamline cargo-loading data-entry and enhance efficiency and reliability in the logistics industry; Carlos Ramirez, pitching Shopping Ecosystems LLC, an app meant to help more people take advantage of the state’s underused “manifiesto program,” which offers tax refunds on merchandise purchased by international shoppers; and Sonya Ramsey, pitching ZenBuddy, an app centering on inclusivity and emotional well-being for young users and their families that also addresses the “significant lack of cultural diversity and ancient wisdom practices in existing mindfulness resources.”
The Startup Texas Pitch Fest judges are Hector Hernandez, project manager, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service; Rolando Gonzalez Jr., executive assistant, Border Manufacturer Contractors, and co-owner, FC Brownsville; and Jovanna Rangel, director of Business Retention and Expansion and Workforce Development, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.
The judges will evaluates each startup company’s innovation, market potential and execution strategy. BCIC and ECC bill the event as “local entrepreneurs presenting practical solutions that address real-world challenges across diverse industries.”
“We invite community members, business leaders, and investors to see cutting-edge startups pitch their ideas live,” they said. “This event offers an opportunity to learn firsthand about these innovative ventures, network with local entrepreneurs, and contribute to discussions that shape Brownsville’s economic future.”
