The official beginning of winter, called the Winter Solstice, is just weeks away, with Christmas coming in just a few days later.
Although Texas is expected to see a warmer- and drier-than-average winter, temperatures do still dip down during the winter months.

This winter begins Dec. 21 and continues through March 20.
What are the average winter temperatures in Texas?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts an overall warmer and drier winter for the South, courtesy of the country’s 74% chance of La Niña conditions.
Despite overall weather predictions, winter temperatures can vary widely in the Lone Star State. The National Weather Service has several locations across Texas that track normal participation, high temperatures, low temperatures and average temperatures.
