The U.S. trucking industry is set for a major upgrade with the introduction of the MOTUS USDOT Registration System by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
MOTUS is a new centralized platform designed to streamline how carriers register and manage their business. Instead of using multiple outdated systems, companies will now be able to handle USDOT numbers, operating authority (MC numbers), and updates all in one place.
The system also introduces stronger identity verification, helping reduce fraud and improve data accuracy across the industry.
Importantly, MOTUS does not change existing regulations; it simply makes the process faster, more secure, and easier to manage.
The transition is expected to expand throughout 2026, when MOTUS will become the standard system for carrier registration and compliance.
