The Wyoming Highway Patrol – Commercial Carrier (WHP) division released results from this year’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) International Roadcheck inspection campaign.
This year, CVSA Roadcheck took place May 16 — 18 at at weigh/inspection stations, designated inspection areas, and along roadways throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
WHP was among the first states to release results from the 72 hour CMV inspection effort. See the highlights below.
- 468 inspections completed
- A total of 1061 violations discovered
- 43 drivers ordered out of service
- 143 vehicles placed out of service
- 84 CVSA decals issued for clean inspections
“We’d really like to congratulate those drivers who received one of the 84 CVSA decals that were issued! You drivers are a great help to highway safety and we appreciate it!” WHP said.
WHP shared photos of some of the violations discovered during the Roadcheck inspection effort.
Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, with nearly 15 trucks or buses inspected, on average, every minute across North America during a 72-hour period.
Other upcoming CVSA inspection events include:
- Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 9 — 15, 2023. During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in risky driving.
- Brake Safety Week is scheduled for August 20 — 26, 2023. During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV Inspections) on large trucks and buses throughout North America to identify brake-system violations.
