Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America (MEAA) has inked a referral agreement with Seeing Machines to promote its Guardian Generation 3 driver monitoring product.
The AI-powered aftermarket system is designed to detect and mitigate driver distraction and fatigue in commercial vehicles.
The system uses computer monitoring technology to track signs of distraction and drowsiness in real time, alerting drivers through visible and audible warnings as well as haptic feedback via a vibration unit installed under the seat.
It also captures event-based footage and transmits it to a live monitoring center where analysts can intervene within seconds by contacting the fleet manager or designated personnel. It only records when a safety event is detected, the company says.
