In September, President Donald Trump finally designated Antifa a domestic terrorist organization.
Antifa would have outsiders believe it’s a loose group of unaffiliated, like-minded “anti-fascists,” however, although left-wing politicians and media sympathizers deny it, Antifa is a well-financed, international terrorist group, a rebranding of the Antifaschistische Aktion, a militant wing of the 1920s/1930s German Communist Party.
Having sprung from anti-capitalist communist roots, Antifa is similarly cell-structured, and has adopted strong-arm tactics used during the early 20th Century by both German communists and National Socialists (Nazis) – opposite sides of the same coin – whose goals were indistinguishable.
Antifa flourishes in Democrat-run “blue cities” with histories of left-wing activism and socio-economic conflict.
In America, Antifa is organized in the “Torch Network,” a coalition of nine collaborating cells: Chicago ANTIFA, Colorado ANTIFA, San Francisco ANTIFA, Oregon ANTIFA, ANTIFA Seven Hills (Virginia), Atlanta ANTIFA, Rose City ANTIFA, Asheville ANTIFA, ANTIFA Sacramento, and Portland Antifa. Antifa also has a presence in other cities. Cells communicate, cooperate and plan on social media.
Leadership provides training materials and organizes and coordinates “direct actions.” Many of Antifa’s indoctrination, radicalization, and training materials are publicly available online.
Although allegedly “unorganized” with no “official” membership, in 2018, “non-members” of the “unorganized” “not-an-organization” Antifa took over the streets of Portland, Oregon. Portland police and the city’s radical mayor stood down and watched it happen.
Refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, Antifa has acted in solidarity with other activists outside of its network, such as Black Lives Matter. Together, in 2020, they rioted in and torched cities, among them Minneapolis, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland and Washington, D.C.
Today, Antifa is obstructing and attacking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, recruiting foot soldiers, and conducting and calling for more attacks to prevent the enforcement of immigration laws.
One Antifa cell distributed a plan entitled “SEVEN STEPS TO STOP ICE.”
In short, they are: organize, recruit, raise money, coordinate, identify the “enemy,” threaten/intimidate, and commit violence.
The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a federal law that grants the President extraordinary powers to deploy military forces domestically. It reads: “Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.”
Clearly, Antifa is already attempting to mount – and apparently thinks it can win – an urban-based insurrection.
Antifa would be smart to avoid going down that path, if only because their recruits tend to be frustrated, angry, unaccomplished, otherwise-powerless losers.
In addition, they fail to understand … well … almost everything, but especially demographics, statistics, geography, supply and logistics.
The population outside blue cities owns hundreds of millions of guns, trillions of rounds of ammunition, and, for the most part, populates and controls the military. Additionally, every blue city is geographically surrounded. Cutting off their power, food, water, and jamming their communications would be child’s play.
Furthermore, not everyone inside blue urban areas sides with Antifa; most of the misfits who do have already failed at something, usually life, and they have relatively few sympathizers outside city limits. Consider, during their 2020 “summer of love,” Antifa/Black Lives Matter violence never reached the suburbs, much less the countryside.
But the obituary for Antifa’s ambitions may be written by the Trump administration’s campaign against domestic terrorism. President Trump sent troops to Portland, Oregon, a hotbed of anti-ICE obstruction and violence – insurrection – to protect Antifa-besieged federal properties. He has authorized using “full force,” if necessary. Chicago and Dallas ICE facilities have experienced violence, too.
Elected Democrats – blue state governors, mayors and other elected Democrats in Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington State and elsewhere who have allied themselves with, protected or merely tolerated Antifa – have made themselves party to insurrection, and are openly inviting federal intervention.
The current hostile Democrat/media-influenced political environment advises restraint, so federal forces may take some initial casualties, but, if/when they do, all bets are off.
If Antifa chooses bloodshed – they already have done so in some jurisdictions – “full force” would further shorten their insurrection, and most of the bloodshed would be Antifa’s.
