J. J. Keller has expanded its safety product lineup with the addition of light-up protection products, designed to improve worker safety by enhancing visibility in low-light and high-traffic environments.
The products — including illuminated safety vests, portable road and work lights, and wearable lighting — are ideal for DOT road workers, construction crews, trucking, towing, emergency response, and personal safety, the company said in a news release, adding the equipment is ANSI/ISEA-compliant and meets OSHA worker visibility requirements.
The lighted vests offer up to 15 hours of continuous illumination or 25 hours flashing, with quick recharge and weather-resistant design. Triangle road lights are visible up to one mile (1.6 km), with solar backup and offer continuous flashing for more than a day, the company claims. Other offerings in the new product line include: magnetic base body lights with foldable stand, belt clip, and 400 lumens with visibility up to half a mile; work lights with 20-hour runtime with up to 3000 lumens and multiple dynamic work light modes; headlights with adjustable brightness; beanies with integrated lights and LED safety glasses.
“Visibility is critical for worker safety, especially in high-risk environments like road construction and transportation,” said Ray Chishti, senior EHS editor at J. J. Keller. “According to the Federal Highway Administration, adequate lighting can reduce nighttime pedestrian‑injury crashes by 42%. This finding underscores the critical importance of visibility for anyone on or near the roadway. In work zones, where workers often operate in low‑light conditions, illuminated safety equipment, such as lighted vests, supports the same visibility principles by helping drivers detect workers sooner and reducing the risk of nighttime crashes.”
