COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The holiday shipping deadline is quickly approaching, and shipping companies are urging the public to get their holiday gifts sent soon.
This weekend marks the final shopping days before shipping deadlines kick in. Becky Cochener at Postal Plus says shipping deadlines for FedEx and UPS begin Monday. She urges customers to ship items sooner rather than later.
“What we are telling our customers is by Monday, we’re going to recommend either UPS or FedEx at that point just to make sure it gets there and arrives in time for Christmas,” Cochener said.
Cochener says that shipping early can help customers save money, and she emphasizes that box size can affect shipping costs for gifts.
“Shipping earlier is better because you’re going to probably pay less and have more options, but then I tell them size matters because the size of the box can dictate the cost of shipping,” she remarked.
Some people, like Becky Curington, are already making sure their gifts arrive on time. She emphasizes the importance of getting gifts shipped so they can enjoy the holiday season.
“You can sit back and enjoy the meaning of the holiday when you plan ahead and get things done ahead of schedule,” Curington said.
Cochener says Postal Plus is extending its hours to Saturday to help relieve the stress of holiday shipping.
