Six businesses throughout Illinois have announced they will begin laying off employees in the coming months, according to information provided to Illinoisworknet.com from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity as part of Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act — of the WARN Act.
According to the site, the “information … does not encompass layoff activity and is not intended to be a proxy for employment or job loss data. Additional layoff activity may be represented outside of an official WARN correspondence, which might not necessarily reflect the company’s final action.”
The newly announced round of layoffs are expected to affect a total of just under 450 Illinois workers.
Food service contractor to lay off nearly 125 workers
The North Carolina-based food service company Compass Group submitted to the WARN report on July 14. The company will lay off 73 employees at four Illinois locations on Aug. 28 due to lost contracts. The facilities affected are at 421 N. Lake Street, Aurora; 901 N. Entrance Avenue, Kankakee; 1001 N Greenwood Ave, Park Ridge; and 210 Springfield Avenue, Joliet. Compass also submitted a supplemental WARN on July 10, announcing the layoff of 50 employees at its facility at 355 Edge Road, Evanston by Sept. 30.
Bolingbrook logistics company announces sale of business
Enru Logistics company, located at 1000 Windham Parkway, Bolingbrook, announced the sale of the business in a July 7 WARN submission. The company is scheduled to lay off 180 workers between Sept. 5 and Oct. 13.
Chicago canning company laying off 80 workers
TreeHouse Foods, Inc., located at 4401 W. 44th Place, Chicago, submitted a WARN on July 31. The fruit and vegetable canning company will lay off 80 employees between Sept. 29 and Oct. 31.
Rental company announces 32 layoffs in East Moline
Citing a lost contract, the Coral Gables, Florida-based rental and leasing company Ryder announced July 29 it will lay off 32 workers on Sept. 27 at its facility at 1001 13th Street, East Moline.
Layoffs ahead for child care company in Monmouth
The Denver-based child and youth services organization Community Development Head Start announced July 31 that it will lay off 25 workers from its facility at P.O. Box 166, Monmouth on Sept. 30.
Nordstrom Credit announces supplemental layoffs
The finance and insurance company Nordstrom Credit Inc. submitted a supplemental WARN on July 29 that announced the layoffs of four employees at multiple Illinois locations as of Oct. 18. Nordstrom submitted an initial WARN on June 3 that announced it would lay off six workers at various locations statewide on August 16.
