The Professional Truck Training Alliance of Canada (PTTAC) has appointed Scott Cober as the first chairman of its newly formed PTTAC Insurance Group.
Cober, national practice leader for transportation at BFL Canada, brings more than two decades of experience in the transportation sector. In his role at BFL, he is responsible for developing and implementing transportation strategies across the company’s Canadian offices, PTTAC said in a news release.

“I am honored and excited to create meaningful industry change as part of PTTAC,” Cober said in the release. “The currently available insurance products are a barrier for new entrants looking to start their career in the transportation industry. Developing new insurance solutions will allow transportation companies to employ drivers who lack the driving experience required by fleet insurance companies. Supporting drivers and their employers will benefit the greater Canadian transportation industry in a time of need.”
PTTAC says collaboration with insurance companies and brokers across Canada is critical in its efforts to improve road safety and enhance entry-level driver training.
PTTAC chairman Jim Campbell welcomed Cober’s appointment. “Working with Scott and the PTTAC Insurance Group will help us focus and supply direction and support in other important key objectives of PTTAC, which includes oversight of training facilities and harmonizing regulation and compliance for all schools across Canada,” he said.
