An organization focused on improving truck parking availability along a portion of a major southwest interstate wants to hear from truckers.
The I-10 Corridor Coalition is made up of the departments of transportation from California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, and is working on a parking information system for the 1,680 miles of Interstate 10 in those states.
While the work of the coalition will not create more parking along I-10, it will inform truckers where open parking spaces can be found at 37 existing sites. This is similar to the Truck Parking Information Management System already in place in eight states in the Midwest.
Technology will be installed at each site to relay information about open truck parking spots to a series of electronic signs along the interstate. It will also send that information to truckers’ smartphone apps.
The coalition is asking truckers and dispatchers to fill out a confidential survey about parking along this stretch of I-10. The online survey can be found here.

America’s Road Team, established by the ATA in 1986, is a nationwide outreach initiative that recognizes the critical role of the nation’s more than 3.5 million professional truck drivers in supporting the economy and enhancing the quality of life for all. Since 2002, Volvo Trucks has been the sole sponsor of this program, reflecting the company’s long-standing commitment to the trucking community and its unwavering support for road safety.
Every two years, America’s Road Team selects a group of outstanding drivers to serve as captains. These individuals, chosen for their exemplary safety records, superior driving skills, and dedication to the profession, embody the highest standards in the industry, according to a statement from Volvo.
