The North American Chassis Pool Cooperative recently announced former Yellow CEO Darren Hawkins as president and incoming chief executive officer. Hawkins has 35 years of experience in transportation logistics service with three large motor carriers.
“Darren is serving as president now and will add the CEO designation on Jan. 1, 2025. I will transition to chairman of the executive board allowing me to stay involved with this great company and take advantage of many personal interests outside of work,” said Dave Manning, CEO of NACPC. “I’ve known Darren for many years and am excited to have him guiding NACPC into the future. He is the perfect person to lead NACPC to achieve the ambitious growth goals established by our Board.”
“I’m honored to work with the NACPC team to continue providing a modern fleet of chassis to the U.S. intermodal container network with first class service, expansion in our domestic services, and continued heavy investment in our international services to benefit US motor carriers with chassis choice and competitive pricing,” said Hawkins.
Overhaul recovers truckload of stolen tobacco products
Overhaul recently recovered a full truckload of stolen tobacco products.
The carrier left Jacksonville, Florida with a destination of Dallas. Remote monitoring uncovered a deviation from the logical route that indicated a pattern of behavior consistent with a theft in progress, and Overhaul’s LE Connect team was activated.
The carrier and driver provided conflicting reasons for the route deviation, including that the trailer was being towed back to origin due to the tractor being out of service.
After an investigation by the Overhaul LE Connect team, it was determined that the trailer was in Hope Hull, Alabama south of Montgomery and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the location.
Coordinating with police on the ground in the area, Overhaul’s LE Connect team was able to brief the officers, allowing them to locate the stolen trailer despite it having been repainted, remarked, and having its license plates replaced.
A full recovery was made and the cargo is being returned to the shipper.
