Briefly: Estes Forwarding Worldwide acquiring Superior Brokerage Services -

Estes Forwarding Worldwide, a leading domestic and international freight forwarder and logistics company and a subsidiary of Estes, recently announced plans to acquire Superior Brokerage Services, a Minneapolis-based, single-sourced supply chain company specializing in domestic and international transportation, U.S. customs brokerage services and warehousing.

EFW, which is celebrating 20 years of business this month, expects the acquisition to double its annual revenue. The deal will include SBS of Asia, giving EFW a footprint in the region and control tower in Taiwan. This supports the growth of EFW’s international services into new markets, increases international capacity and allows it to engage much deeper into the supply chain, ultimately leading to better end-to-end solutions for U.S. customers, according to a statement from the company.

“SBS has built a tremendous reputation in our industry,” said Scott Fisher, CEO of EFW. “We complement each other’s business very well with very little overlap, and together, we’ll prove to be more agile in servicing our customers, both internationally and domestically.”

SBS founder and President Paul Goff will stay on with EFW as executive vice president, and Fisher will continue to lead the combined companies. The acquisition is expected to close at the end of October and increases EFW from 750 employees to more than 1,100, with hiring ongoing over the next few months.

EZ GO on I-44 converted to Love’s

Love’s Travel Stops has converted the former EZ GO location on Interstate 44 in Chandler, Oklahoma to a Love’s.

The newly rebranded store, accessible from the eastbound lanes of I-44, now offers Love’s snacks and discounts through the Love’s Connect app.

The Chandler store is Love’s second travel stop on the Turner Turnpike, following the rebranding of the nearby Stroud location, which is accessible from the westbound lanes. Love’s will rebrand its remaining five EZ GO turnpike stops in the coming weeks, all located on the Kansas Turnpike. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

In April, Love’s acquired EZ GO from Oklahoma-based Carey Johnson Oil Company. The acquisition included six travel stops on Oklahoma turnpikes and five on the Kansas Turnpike. The turnpike locations are the first ever for Love’s.

Trucking foundations donate funds for child car seats

Today, the Trucking Cares Foundation and the Tennessee Trucking Foundation each donated $5,000 to help purchase car seats for parents and guardians in Tennessee who are unable to afford them.

“In the event of an accident, a properly fitted car seat provides the maximum amount of protection for young children,” said John Lynch, president of the Trucking Cares Foundation. “We are pleased to support this effort to equip more Tennessee families with new car seats to keep their most precious cargo safe. This donation aligns with the Trucking Cares Foundation’s objective to harness the power of the ATA Federation to help others while also promoting highway safety.”

This week, Sept. 17–23, is National Child Passenger Safety Week. The annual event raises awareness about the importance of ensuring that all children are properly secured in an appropriate car seat or seatbelt. The week culminates with National Seat Check Saturday.

Some of the car seats purchased by TCF and TTF will be given away to eligible families on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westwood Baptist Church (4001 Georgetown Road) in Cleveland, Tennessee.

The remaining car seats will go to fitting stations across Tennessee to assist with child passenger safety checks in those areas.
