On Monday, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a new law that requires English proficiency by truck drivers. It also turns improper documentation into a felony for foreign-domiciled drivers.
The law requires all truck drivers must be able to show they can read, write and speak English. To determine if a driver has exhibited English proficiency, law enforcement officers must learn if the driver:
- Can converse with the general public
- Is able to understand highway traffic signs and signals in English
- Can respond to official inquiries in English
- Is capable of making entries on reports and records
Drivers who cannot display English proficiency can be fined $500 for the first offense. That increases to $1,000 for all subsequent offenses.
PA carrier adds dedicated service

Rupramka joins PGT with nearly 20 years’ experience in both operations and sales roles within the transportation industry. Throughout his career, Rupramka has successfully managed and expanded dedicated fleet operations across multiple companies, according to the company.
At PGT, Rupramka will lead PGT Dedicated Solutions, overseeing the company’s current dedicated accounts and the development of new business opportunities.
