Three people died Sunday night when a tactor-trailer strucck a stopped car on a Texas highway.
The Texas Department of public safety reports the driver and two children died when the Hyundai they were in was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer whil;e parked along U.S. 90 near Terrell, Texas.
The truck driver was not injured.
Police continue their investigation.
Stevens honored by General Mills
Stevens Transport, a transportation and logistics company based in Dallas, has been named the 2026 General Mills On Time In Full Temp Carrier of the Year, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has received this honor.
No other carrier in the history of the General Mills program has achieved this distinction four years in a row, according to a statement from Stevens.
he OTIF (On-Time In-Full) Temp Carrier of the Year award recognizes carriers that consistently meet temperature-sensitive delivery commitments at the highest level.
“To receive this recognition from General Mills for the fourth straight year is a testament to the extraordinary people at Stevens Transport. Winning this award once is meaningful. Winning it four consecutive years, with no other carrier having done so, speaks to the standard our team holds itself to every single day,” said Todd Aaron, Vice Chairman, Stevens Transport.
NYS troopers crack down on wotk zone violations
New York State Police Troop L troopers issued 68 tickets during Operation Hard Hat on the Southern State Parkway recently.
Operation Hard Hat is an initiative in which troopers conduct enhanced enforcement in work zones. The goal is to protect highway and roadside workers, emergency personnel and all motorists from dangerous driving in and around active work zones, the troopers said.
Over the course of several hours, troopers issued 68 tickets, 33 of which were for speeding.
The number of violations observed in such a short period shows the ongoing risks faced by highway workers and the importance of driver awareness in these areas, according to the troopers.
The New York State Police remind all motorists that work zones require people to be aware, slow down and drive safely. In addition, the New York State Move Over Law has been expanded to include all vehicles that are stopped on roads.
