Volvo Lac St-Jean in Saint-Prime, Que., is the latest Canadian Volvo dealer to become EV-certified, a process dealers must undergo before they can sell and support Volvo’s electric trucks.
And it comes as the truck maker announces it has deployed more than 570 battery-electric VNR Electric models in North America, which have collectively run more than 8 million miles (12.8 million km).
There are currently 34 dealers across North America undergoing the EV certification process. There are now 64 certified dealers across the U.S. and Canada, including in four provinces: B.C.; Manitoba; Ontario; and Quebec.
The VNR Electrics on the road today belong to more than 70 customers. Globally, Volvo says it has sold more than 4,300 electric trucks in 48 countries.
“We recognized early on that the transition to battery-electric vehicles required more than just the trucks themselves, that it had to be a total ecosystem of support on this ground-breaking technology. We take an extensive consultative approach with our customers and a major step of that was to be the first OEM to create a Certified EV Dealer network. Our dedicated effort to build a complete electromobility ecosystem continues to pay off, expanding across the United States and Canada,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America.
“We remain committed to customers and their successful transition to zero-tailpipe-emission battery-electric trucks with the assurance that we are with them every step of the way.”
