Jaisalmer: A truck driver was kidnapped and beaten on Wednesday evening from Pokhran Road in Phalsoond area of Jaisalmer district. Police arrested four accused in the case and registered an FIR.SP Sudhir Choudhary said, according to truck driver Bhagwan Puri, on April 17 when he was standing on Pokhran road at 4pm, accused Gulab Singh and others came in an SUV. They pulled him down from his truck and assaulted him with rods and pipe. He told police that he was then kidnapped and taken to Shergarh. On seeing police the accused dropped Puri near Bhikhidai Juni village and threatened to kill him if he told police about the kidnapping. Choudhary said that a police team checked the SUV number and chased the accused through Phalsoond, Shergarh, Bhaniyana and Dechu. On Thursday, police blocked at Thib toll plaza but the accused broke the cordoning to flee towards Balotra. He said that police chased the four accused for around 400 kms, who even changed their vehicle to misguide police, but they were apprehended. The accused were identified as Gulab Singh,a resident of Phalsoond; Om Singh, a resident of Sendasa in Beawar; Bhagwan Singh, a resident of Balesar in Jodhpur and Vishal Singh, a resident of Jodhpur. Gulab is a history-sheeter of Phalsoond police station and 16 criminal cases are lodged against him and OM Singh is booked in loot, assault and murder cases.
