California Highway Patrol investigators are searching for information about a shooting on Interstate 5 in San Joaquin County Thursday that seriously injured a truck driver.Officials said the big rig driver was shot while driving on the interstate. After being shot, they said, he left the highway and crashed into two parked, unoccupied vehicles before crashing into a business.CHP said that around 12:48 officers started receiving reports that a truck was driving off the freeway. Others reported hearing gunshots in the area, CHP said.”If anybody saw anything, heard anything right around that time of 12:45 to 12:48 time frame, they could call the tipline at 916-731-6580 with any information,” said Officer Ruben Jones. “Nothing is too small.” The driver was taken to the hospital after responders determined that he had been shot while on the freeway. Xavier Parker-Guerrero was working in the shop when he heard the boom.”It was bad,” he said. “Hopefully he makes a good recovery. Fast. You’d never wish something like that on anyone. It’s all just all really crazy.”Parker-Guerrero said the commercial area is usually busy and that he was surprised (and grateful) nobody else was hit.Investigators are asking anyone driving northbound on I-5 between SR-120 and Louise Ave, between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Thursday, with a dash cam, to contact investigators. “Any footage of this area during this time frame could be helpful and we would ask that you contact CHP Valley Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) with any footage.
