Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley recently announced a new route for the 37th Annual Mother’s Day Truck Convoy, taking place on Saturday, May 9, beginning at Manheim PA Auto Auction.
The convoy will depart at 1:30 p.m., and the route has been updated to ensure safety for participants and the community while minimizing the impact on the motoring public.
This year’s fund raising goal is $575,000.
The convoy will still depart from Manheim PA Auto Auction as in previous years, entering 283 West at Mount Joy Road. Trucks will then travel in the right lane with their hazards on at a reduced speed, allowing other vehicles to safely enter and exit the highway.
Trucks will exit at Toll House Road, take a left, and then re-enter 283 EAST, continuing to the Esbenshade Road exit. Only drivers with wish kids on board will return to Manheim PA Auto Auction.
The total route, not including the return to Manheim PA Auto Auction, spans 33 miles through Lancaster and Dauphin counties, with Manheim PA Auto Auction and LCBC Church continuing as prime viewing locations. Additional viewing spots will be announced closer to the event, according to organizers.
“We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated Route Committee for coming together to plan this new route, and we thank the participating townships and PennDOT for their support,” said Jennifer Davis, president & CEO of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley. “This updated route ensures the safety of our participants and the community while minimizing the impact on the motoring public, allowing everyone to enjoy the spirit of the Truck Convoy while supporting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.”
The Mother’s Day Truck Convoy unites the community, wish kids, truck drivers, and local businesses to support the mission of granting wishes in the Susquehanna Valley. Last year, the event directly contributed to more than 40 wishes being granted, while the Truck Convoy’s overall impact has helped make over 1,000 wishes come true.
