A truckload shipment of connectivity hardware valued at around $500,000 was recovered intact after an attempted theft was detected in Mississauga, Ont., according to Overhaul.
The shipment originated in Southern California and was bound for Markham, Ont. The incident occurred when the drivers made a stop in Mississauga, about 20 miles (about 32 km) from its final destination, Overhaul said in a news release, adding that its LE Connect monitoring team received a security alert indicating a possible intrusion into the trailer.
The company forwarded the live tracking data and vehicle details, including images of the tractor and trailer, to Peel Regional Police, who located the vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Police found the trailer’s security seal had been cut, indicating an attempted breach, but all of the cargo remained on board and was recovered intact.
