The City of Saint John, N.B., is asking residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to share feedback on the movement of heavy trucks through the Central Peninsula as part of its MoveSJ transportation plan.
MoveSJ aims to create a balanced transportation network that considers parking, active transportation, public transit, and vehicle traffic — including freight movement. The plan guides infrastructure investments for streets and sidewalks.
The City says it is now exploring whether truck access in the Central Peninsula should be reduced to better support MoveSJ’s other goals. Options under consideration include restricting truck size (for example, vehicles smaller than 53-ft. tractor-trailers), limiting operating hours for heavy trucks, and adjusting the size and location of loading zones
