96 Illinois Workers Just Learned They’re Jobless at End of March

If you still have a job, be thankful. Not everyone can say that including 96 workers in Illinois that just learned they’re going to be jobless at the end of March.

One of the newest bulletins shared by the Illinois Work Net website shows a WARN notice was submitted to the state by Penske Logistics LLC located at 1000 Bilter Road in Aurora, Illinois. It shows that a mass layoff of 96 will be effective on March 31, 2025.

When I see something like this, I always hope that it’s merely a restructuring, but in this case the mass layoff seems to be confirmed by What Layoff on Threads as they state “Penske Logistics LLC will lay off 96 employees at 1000 Bilter Road, Aurora, IL, on March 31, 2025, as indicated in a WARN.”

The last time I saw a mass layoff like this at Penske Logistics was in February of 2024 when they laid off over 200 drivers and warehouse workers according to Freight Wave.

Here’s the most troubling part. According to the Illinois Work Net site, there have been 1,352 Illinois workers laid off in the past 30 days and more than 4,508 in the last 3 months. That is not the start to 2025 that we hoped for on the jobs and employment front.
