The Port of Galveston has become a hotbed for cruise departures in recent years. The Port has seen the number of cruise ships sailing down the Mississippi River increase. There are vessels from Norwegian, Disney, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival that wind their way out of the shipping lanes of the busy port and into the more serene stillness of the Gulf’s blue waters.
Cruising is a great way to experience a vacation to a foreign destination while enjoying an almost all-inclusive resort atmosphere. On board a cruise ship out of Texas you’ll experience some fabulous dining, incredible comedy and musical revues, and a lot of soaking up sun time, especially if you’re cruising toward the Caribbean in the spring, summer, or fall months.
The cruise lines do what they can to make your stay on the ship as entertaining and interesting as possible. They have an entire department whose job it is to come up with things for you to do on your time off. The great thing about a cruise, you can participate in those activities, you can just watch those activities, or you can ignore those activities, it’s whatever fits into your vacation plans.
Speaking of vacation plans, you’ll need to know what to pack ahead of time. For most cruise destinations out of Galveston, your summertime togs will be just fine. Don’t forget to pack some comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen too. As you consider what you do or don’t want to take along for your trip, please consider the following.
