ConMet is marking the 30th anniversary of its PreSet, a pre-assembled wheel end technology, invented in 1995 for Class 8 trucks. Over 40 million PreSet and PreSet Plus hubs have been installed to date, collectively covering an estimated 31 trillion miles across North America, the company said in a news release.
ConMet says PreSet technology simplified the complex wheel end assembly process, eliminating the need to source and assemble individual components. In 2011, ConMet introduced PreSet Plus, incorporating features like an integrated spindle nut and induction-hardened spacers for better durability and ease of installation.
“PreSet Plus represented a significant advancement in wheel end technology,” said Brian Rieger, vice-president of sales at ConMet, in a release. “One of the key breakthroughs was the ability to provide manufacturers and fleets with a solution that not only enhanced long-term reliability but also addressed real-world challenges like maintaining optimal clamp load under the most demanding conditions. This ensured safer, more efficient operations for our customers.”
PreSet hubs are available for various applications, including medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, with options for drum and disc brakes and all axle positions. ConMet adds that its vertically integrated manufacturing process ensures high-quality, precise components and durable technology to meet the demands of the heavy-duty trucking industry.
The anniversary comes on the heels of ConMet’s 60th anniversary that the company celebrated last year.
