Expect delays if you’re traveling Interstate 95 in Maryland for the rest of this month and into early July.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration crews will begin a resurfacing project on I-95 at multiple locations starting Monday, June 10. The pavement improvement project should be complete in early July, weather permitting, according to the highway administration.
Crews will begin the resurfacing project on southbound I-95 between the Howard County line to MD 212 (Powder Mill Road) then will begin the northbound lanes of I-95 between the Howard County line and Brooklyn Bridge Road.
Work will take place from 8 p.m. yo 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and will require lane shifts and occasional triple-lane closures. Closing three travel lanes during work hours will provide a buffer between the paved area and the open travel lane and establish a safe work zone for the public and the crews working overnight.
Beginning the week of June 16, crews will begin resurfacing all the ramps at the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)/ MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) interchange. Work will take place 8 p.m.-5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and will require total ramp closures and detours. Electronic message boards will be in place ahead of the upcoming work to alert drivers to road conditions ahead.
The following ramps will be affected:
- I-95 southbound to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway westbound
- I-95 southbound to Baltimore-Washington Parkway eastbound
- I-95 northbound to Baltimore-Washington Parkway westbound
- Baltimore-Washington Parkway westbound to I-95 northbound
- Baltimore-Washington Parkway eastbound to I-95 southbound
- Baltimore-Washington Parkway westbound to I-95 southbound
- MD 193 (Greenbelt Road) ramp to I-95/I-495
