Drivers and other employees of CFI recently raised funds for charities aiding those in need in cities where the company’s associates live and work across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
The company’s Truckload of Treasures campaign raised $21,120. Funds are raised entirely through associate donations. Over the 30 years of the program’s existence, CFI associates have donated over $1 million dollars, according to the company.
The company-wide fund-raising raffle provided associates with the opportunity to win prizes including gift cards for retailers. All prizes were purchased and donated by CFI’s senior leadership team. In addition, associates partnered with service organizations throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico to provide holiday gifts and food for underserved children and senior citizens.
“Although CFI has been affected like all carriers in 2023, our professional drivers and support staff committed to showing up for our communities. It makes all the CFI leadership team proud to lead an organization full of people that never lose sight of the value of giving back. We are immensely proud of our associates and their generosity year over year,” said Mike Norris, CFI’s Vice President of Finance.
Cargo thieves grab 19,000 bottles of tequila
A North Carolina spirits company had 19,000 bottles stolen after entering the U.S. from Mexico. The shipment is valued at more than $400,000.
According to Daytoon Distributors, the company expecting the shipment of what was to be its new line of tequila, thieves apparently infiltrated its logistics network to commander the booze.
The company’s logistics team reported receiving updates from the trucker as the shipment was on the road. However, it now appears those messages were bogus.
Officials believe the tequila is somewhere in California.
