Hyderabad: A 30-year-old housewife and her two children died in a road accident in Manoharabad while they were travelling from Hyderabad to Medak town on Thursday. Another child escaped with injuries. The woman’s scooter was hit by a truck from behind and later run over by the heavy vehicle. According to police, the deceased were Malekha Sultana, 30, of Ramnagar Colony in Medak, her children, Meed Adnan, 11, and Rokaya Sultana, 9. Malekha’s younger daughter, Rabiya Begum, 7, escaped with injuries. The accident occurred while Malekha was returning to Medak from Hyderabad after attending a family function in the city on a scooter with her three children. When they reached goshala on the outskirts of Kallakal village near Manoharabad on NH-4, a truck with Chhattisgarh registration number rammed Malekha’s scooter. “Due to rash and negligent driving, the truck driver rammed the scooter while trying to overtake it. Malekha and the children fell on the road due to the collision. The truck ran over Malekha, Meedi and Rokaya. They died on the spot with severe injuries,” Manoharabad sub-inspector B Karunakar Reddy said. The accused driver fled from the spot abandoning the vehicle. “He is on the run. We are trying to locate him,” the SI said.Rabiya, who fell away from the truck, luckily escapd with minor injuries. The injured girl was immediately shifted to a local government hospital in Toopran by police. Based on a complaint of Malekha’s father Mohammed Shafiq Ahammed, police registered a case against the truck driver under sections 304-A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and 337 (causing injuries due to rash or negligent act) of the IPC.
