Whitesboro truck driver killed in LeFlore County crash

A Whitesboro man was killed early Tuesday when his propane truck ran off the road and overturned, ejecting him, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 6:50 a.m. on Oklahoma 63 about a mile west of Whitesboro, in LeFlore County.

Troopers said a 2012 Freightliner propane truck driven by Jimmy Howze, 62, was westbound when it ran off the right side of the highway. Howze overcorrected, troopers reported, sending the truck back across the highway and off the left side of the road, where it overturned and struck a tree.

Howze, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene, the OHP reported.

Troopers attributed the crash to inattention.

Hominy man killed in two-car crash in Osage County

A Hominy man was fatally injured in a two-car collision in Osage County late Monday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Wayne Brown, 79, was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, where he was pronounced dead, troopers reported.

Troopers said a northbound 2007 Dodge Caravan driven by an 86-year-old Osage, Oklahoma, man crossed the center line on Oklahoma 99 about 3.5 miles south of Hominy and hit Brown’s southbound 1970 Chevrolet pickup just before 11:30 p.m.

Brown was not wearing a seat belt, but the other driver was, the OHP reported. The other driver had arm and chest internal injuries and was admitted to St. John in Tulsa in good condition, troopers said.

They attributed the crash to driver sleepiness.
