An ice cream vendor was stabbed and robbed while a truck driver was attacked with sharp weapons in separate incidents reported in Haryana’s Panchkula Sunday night.
The vendor Shubham was stabbed and robbed of his cell phone, cash and a large quantity of ice cream near Town Park, officers said, while the truck driver Sunil Kumar was attacked near Sector 12A. Both were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6. Their condition is stated to be stable.
A police source said, “The ice cream vendor was passing Town Park on the road dividing sectors 5 and 8 when a group of youths in a car signalled him to stop. Two youths started bargaining with him on the price of the ice cream, when one of them flashed a knife from under his shirt and threatened to kill Shubham. He resisted and was stabbed in the leg. Shubham reported that the attackers took away Rs 4,000, his mobile phone, and a lot of ice cream from his cart.” More than four people were involved in the crime, sources added.

An officer at the Sector 5 police station said, “We have started the investigation. CCTV footage is being examined. The assailants were in a car.”
Meanwhile, the injured truck driver Sunil Kumar reported to the police that he was standing near a construction site in Sector 12A when half a dozen people, who arrived in a car, approached him around 11.45 pm and demanded money. When he refused, they attacked Kumar with weapons, including a knife and sword, the police said. He received injuries on his head.
An officer at the Sector 14 police station said, “We suspect an old rivalry led to the attack. Kumar’s statement is being verified.”
