Unlicensed Semi Truck Driver in Fatal Crash Deported 16 Times

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO – A semi truck driver, Ignacio Cruz Mendoza, was arrested following a deadly crash on Highway 285, where he was reportedly speeding before losing control. Cruz Mendoza, who has been deported or left the U.S. voluntarily 16 times in the past 22 years, was discovered to be in the country without proper documentation at the time of the accident. This series of deportations started with his arrest in Oregon in 2002 on a low-level drug trafficking charge.

Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) have indicated that besides the drug charge, they are not aware of any other criminal charges against him in local jurisdictions. Colorado State Patrol noted that at the time of the crash, Cruz Mendoza was operating the vehicle without a commercial driver’s license. The tragic incident resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man and serious injuries to another individual.

Cruz Mendoza is currently held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. He has the option to post bail through a bondsman. ICE has made a request to Jefferson County officials regarding Cruz Mendoza’s custody, reflecting ongoing legal and immigration-related complications following the accident.

BROOKLYN, NY – Police are searching for a suspect involved in a theft at the Neptune Avenue F Train station, where a visually impaired man was robbed. The incident occurred on Friday, June 7.

At about 3:50 PM, an unidentified individual, seen holding a box of candy on the platform, approached a 58-year-old visually impaired man and stealthily extracted the victim’s cellphone from his pocket. After committing the theft, the suspect fled the scene on foot and left the train station heading towards an unknown destination. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was last observed wearing a black baseball cap, a red t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a black book bag. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.

BALTIMORE, MD—A 24-year-old male was arrested on June 19 during a police investigation in the 2900 block of Harford Road. Baltimore Eastern District detectives, who were conducting the operation around 11:59 AM, recovered a handgun with ammunition and controlled dangerous substances (CDS) from the suspect.

Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility where he was charged according to the offenses found. The incident underscores ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address gun violence and drug-related activities in the community.

ROCKVILLE, MD—The Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) is requesting public assistance to locate the family of an unaccompanied child found in the King Farm Community. The child was discovered near Cork Tree Lane and Elmcroft Boulevard.

The RCPD is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s presence in the area and is urgently seeking to reunite the child with his family. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the RCPD at 240-314-8900 immediately.

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ—The Robbinsville Township Police Department has announced the reopening of Hutchinson Road following a swift response to a fallen tree in the area near the Foxmoor Clubhouse. The Department of Public Works (DPW) effectively cleared the obstruction from the roadway.

The incident initially caused a temporary closure and prompted warnings for drivers to exercise caution in the area. The Robbinsville DPW’s prompt and efficient action facilitated the quick reopening of the road.

The Police Department thanked residents for their patience during the closure and highlighted the effective work of the DPW team in managing the situation.

Multiple Victims in Shooting Incident on North Barney Street

PHILADELPHIA, PA—A shooting incident at approximately 6:22 PM on North Barney Street resulted in multiple injuries, according to police reports. Seven individuals were affected, with injuries ranging from graze wounds to gunshot wounds.

The victims, transported to local hospitals, include a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the left leg, a 31-year-old female shot in the left hand, and a 23-year-old male shot in the right buttock. These three were taken to Temple Hospital by private vehicle and are reported to be in stable condition.

Additionally, a 47-year-old female and a 29-year-old female, both shot in the thigh, were transported by police to Temple Hospital and are also in stable condition. A 16-year-old female with two graze wounds was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital and is in stable condition. An 18-year-old female, shot once, was another victim taken to Temple Hospital by private vehicle; she is in stable condition as well.

Authorities have secured the scene, but no weapons have been recovered, and no arrests have been made thus far. The investigation continues under the guidance of the Shooting Investigation Group.
