Crews work to clear up and remove a truck after a rollover accident Friday morning. The accident occurred in the early hours and the truck was being loaded for transport around noon.
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Crews worked for hours Friday morning to remove a tractor-trailer from the spot where it came to rest after rolling over along Interstate 470 in a wooded area.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for a short time, then slowed while workers cleared the site.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the rollover occurred at 6:08 a.m. and the crews were finishing up close to noon. The trailer was removed from the scene, but officials were having difficulty removing the tractor, which was heavily damaged. Workers were using torches to cut the tractor up so it could be more easily removed.
The truck was reportedly headed east on Interstate 470 and went off the right side of the road and rolled over. The driver, Zuman Sakhi, 32, of Connecticut, was cited for failure to control. His passenger reportedly suffered a minor injury.
There was no spill from the truck, which apparently was carrying mail.
