BROOK PARK, Ohio – A truck driver, 34, and a worker at Central State Trucking Co., 20600 Sheldon Road, argued and nearly fought each other at about 1 p.m. March 12.
The truck driver was there to make a pickup. The worker said the truck driver entered the warehouse, where he wasn’t allowed. The worker asked the man to leave.
The truck driver retreated to his truck and drove it to the loading dock. He climbed on top of the truck, stepped into the warehouse and tried to start a fight with the worker.
The worker walked to the office area of the building. The truck driver followed him. He argued with the worker and pushed him.
A Central State manager called the truck driver’s boss and told him that if the truck driver ever returned, he would be arrested for trespassing.
Police spoke to the truck driver’s boss, who provided additional details. He said his truck driver had initially reported to the Central State waiting room and rang the bell for service. After 30 minutes, no one responded, so he rang the bell again.
The Central State worker rudely told the truck driver that he only had to ring the bell once. The worker advised the truck driver to leave if he couldn’t wait. Finally, the worker said he would not load the driver’s truck.
The truck driver called his dispatcher to let him know what was happening. During the call, the worker yelled at the truck driver, then spit in his face. That’s when the truck driver entered the warehouse to confront the worker, the driver’s boss said.
The truck driver and worker wanted to document the incident with police but didn’t want to pursue charges. The truck driver promised to never again make pickups at Central State.
