Truck Driver: Truck driver held after fatal accident | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: The Sahnewal police have arrested a Jammu & Kashmir-based truck driver for causing a fatal road accident. “The accused suddenly applied brakes on the Delhi- Amritsar National highway near village Nandpur, due to which the car plying behind him crashed into the truck,” said the police. The deceased has been identified as Jaspreet Singh, 40 who died at the spot. The police, on the complaint of Jaspreet’s brother-in-law Dalwinder Singh, have registered a case. The complainant said that he and his brother-in-law Jaspreet were returning from Khanna to Ludhiana in their respective cars. “Jaspreet’s car was ahead of me. While driving on the highway, I saw a overloaded truck which suddenly applied brakes. Unfortunately, Jaspreet’s car crashed into it and he died on the spot,” Dalwinder said. ASI Gurdeep Singh, investigating officer from Sahnewal police station, said that commuters had apprehended the accused truck driver. A case under relevant IPC Sections has been filed.
