
Varanasi: A trucker driver and cleaner were killed as their vehicle rammed into a stationary truck from behind on Varanasi-Lucknow highway in Jalalpur area of Jaunpur in wee hours of Thursday. Jalalpur police said that the victims were identified as Pintu Kumar (32) and Hanuman Yadav of Ayodhya. Police sent the bodies for autopsy after informing Pintu’s family members about the incident. During initial probe, it came to light that while passing through Rehati village under Jalalpur police station, some technical snag occurred in a trailer and it stopped in the mid of Varanasi-Lucknow highway. The trailer’s driver and cleaner had burnt bonfire behind the trailer and they were also signaling other vehicles to take diversion from proper distance. However, Pintu could not notice them and his truck dashed the trailer from back side. On getting information, Jalalpur cops reached the spot and with the help of locals, injured Pintu and Hanuman were rescued and took to a local hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
