TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – On his last long haul before retirement, a Point Place trucker suffered a medical emergency. He was stuck hundreds of miles from home, now, he is receiving a helping hand as he is getting acclimated to a new way of life back at home.
Truck driver Sean O’Malley was in a trauma center in Utah recovering from a stroke that he suffered while on the road four months ago. Now, after being diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder, having part of his skull removed and securing a special medical flight, he is back inside his home and grateful to be alive.
“I’m doing great because of the people at the hospital,” Sean O’Malley said. “Feels great to be home. I didn’t think I’d be back home.”
It has been an emotional and heartbreaking journey for the O’Malleys who lovingly refer to themselves as the dream team. But Sean’s wife Lori O’Malley said the medical bills are starting to come in and they don’t know how they can pay them.
That is why the Yark Automotive Group and 13abc are giving them a helping hand. 13abc and Yark Automotive Group presented Lori O’Malley with a $1,300 check to help with her husband’s medical bills.
