NEW BETHLEHEM – A 68-year-old Hendersonville, Tenn. man is facing charges following a crash on May 15 at the intersection of Broad and Wood streets in New Bethlehem Borough.
Telmo Raul Lozada was charged with being in a crash involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, and failing to stop and provide information following a crash.
According to court documents, the Southern Clarion County Regional Police Department (SSCRPD) was dispatched to the intersection of Broad and Wood streets for a two-vehicle crash. At the scene, officers spoke with Taryn Jones who reported that she was going through the intersection on Route 28 when a tractor trailer to her right crossed the white line and struck her vehicle while attempting to make a left turn onto Route 66.
Following the crash, Jones pulled over along the 400 Block of Broad Street, but the driver of the truck, later identified as Lozada, allegedly kept going.
Police said Jones’ Chevrolet Traverse sustained damage to its back driver’s side fender and the bumper.
Reports state that officers were able to use footage from the traffic camera to determine the truck company, as well as the truck and trailer numbers of the vehicle involved in the crash. The footage also shows Lozada crossing the white line into Jones’ lane and striking her SUV, before proceeding on Route 66 without stopping to exchange any information.
Upon hearing the information that was obtained from the crash, Lozada allegedly refused to provide any information to officers on June 10.
Police said they then contacted the trucking company, LJM International LLC, to inform them of Lozada’s refusal to provide information. The company then provided Lozada’s driver’s license information.
Charges were filed June 13 by SCCRPD Officer Joseph Mansfield with District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller.
