Bhopal: A sessions court here sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for looting a dumper laden with iron rods and killing its driver. The court sentenced two more accused in the case who had played the role of middlemen in the deal for purchase of looted iron bars and also the one who bought the looted rods to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment. One accused in the case is still on the run. According to the prosecution, a night watchman employed with the forest department on August 15, 2018, informed the police about a body lying under a culvert on the bypass road Jhagariya on the outskirts of Bhopal city. The person was identified as Makhan Singh, who worked as a dumper driver with a private company. It was revealed during investigation that he had left the factory of the company in Mandideep for Bhopal at 10 pm on August 13, 2018 with iron rods on the dumper and he has been missing since.It was revealed that some persons had looted the dumper and killed the driver by strangulating him and threw his body under the culvert.Through CCTV cameras, the police tracked the movement of the dumper after it left the factory at Mandideep and saw that the dumper was last seen going towards M/s Shahwaz traders in Karond with the iron rods and returning empty. After recovery of stolen iron rods from M/s Shahwaz traders, when owner of the shop Shahnawaz Sheikh was interrogated, he told that his friends Ritesh Bharke, Vijay Shrivastava, Wahid Noor and Shabir Kala had asked him to buy the iron rods. The police seized the iron roads and arrested Sheikh, Ritesh and Vijay Shrivastava.During further interrogation, the main accused in the case Jaikaran alias Karan, who had struck the deal for sale of stolen iron rods and sold the iron roads after killing the dumper driver with his friends Mohd Nasim, Mahesh Rathore and Shabir Kala, was arrested and on his information, the car used in the incident, mobile and voter ID of the deceased was seized. The dumper was also seized from the bypass on Ayodhya road. Another accused Wahid Noor who had planned the loot and played the role of the middleman in the deal of stolen iron rods, is still on the run.The court of additional district & sessions judge Jayant Sharma on the basis of evidence produced in the court held the accused Jaikaran, Mohd Nasim and Mahesh Rathore guilty of loot and murder under sections 302, 201 and 394 of the IPC and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court also sentenced Ritesh Bharke and Vijay Shrivastava to rigorous imprisonment of 3 years under section 414 of the IPC and Shahnavaz Sheikh for 3 years of rigorous imprisonment under section 411 of the IPC.
