Ontario Provincial Police charged a transport truck driver after the massive vehicle left the westbound lanes of Highway 401 and entered the eastbound lanes Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the highway just east of County Road 4 in Odessa at about 6:50 p.m. They were told it was a two-vehicle collision, and when they arrived, they saw that a transport truck and an SUV were involved.
“The transport truck was travelling westbound when it left the road, crossing the centre median and up onto the eastbound lanes,” the OPP said in a news release. “The SUV was travelling eastbound and had to swerve to avoid hitting the transport truck. The SUV was damaged by debris from the transport truck as it narrowly missed hitting them.”
Only the driver of the transport was in the vehicle, but two people were in the SUV. All three were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The truck driver has been charged with careless driving and making an unsafe move.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed until 3:15 a.m. as the OPP investigated the collision and crews cleaned up significant debris.
