Over turn Truck on March 9, 2019, I-40. I was starting my day West bound and I ran into a storm. Crazy high winds like I was in WY. I was fighting my Kenworth W900L to keep it straight and then I see a truck turning over in front of me, opposite side on interstate.
I was about to stop and run over and help out. But quick action from the drivers on the East Bound side rushed to help out. I knew it would be a mistake to jam up the West bound side, so I proceeded to get out of the storm before my truck suffered the same fate.
Also, I was only hauling 13,500 lbs and it was a good fight to keep it upright.
Watching the video I realized what had happened. The over turned truck was passing the slower truck. In high wind, passing a truck is dangerous because in this case, the slower truck was blocking the wind. When the passing truck passed him he got the full force of wind form a resting shock setting. That brute force is highly dangerous. I feel that is what took him over.
Be Cautious in high wind and be careful if you must pass another truck!
