A driver who was stuck on the side of the road in Pennsylvania says his day got a little better thanks to some strangers. A social media post turned into a lesson in kindness.
The “Route 80 Rant” Facebook page is often filled with comments about traffic, complaints about aggressive drivers and general misery about the daily commute, but this week, truck driver Fidel Cabrera says he saw how kind people can be.
Cabrera was driving on I-80 East right before the Tannersville exit when he says his truck just shut off.
He tried to get it started but no luck, so he was waiting for a tow.
He says that usually takes about 30 minutes, but 3.5 hours later, he was still waiting.
So Cabrera wrote on the rant page: “I’m taking a shot.. lol.. anybody want to bring me coffee?”
Brian Ferraro, a stranger, answered the call and replied, “on my way.” And he showed up not long afterwards with a big cup of hot coffee.
Cabrera got not one but two cups of coffee, because a little while later, another stranger, Rashida Stewart, saw the post, and she also brought Cabrera a cup of coffee right when the tow truck showed up.
“I was there for five hours and you know, it changed my whole day,” he told 69 News. “It could have went different but they made my day better and I thank them for that very much. The little things go a long way for someone.”
Cabrera says it just goes to show there are good, genuine people out there who went out of their way for him, and it just made his day.
