KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI – The driver of a semitractor-trailer was killed Tuesday, May 28, in a crash on I-94 near Galesburg.
The victim was a 57-year-old man from Canada. His name was not released.
The crash was reported at 8:18 p.m. on eastbound I-94 near the 85-mile marker in Comstock Township, Kalamazoo County sheriffs’ deputies said.
The investigation showed that occupants of two passenger vehicles were on the freeway shoulder changing a flat tire when the semitruck drifted over and sideswiped both vehicles.
The truck left the road and crashed into trees in a heavily wooded area, sheriff’s deputies said.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither occupant of the passenger vehicles was injured. Comstock Township firefighters assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
Eastbound I-94 was closed from roughly 11:10 p.m. until 1:45 a.m., according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
