Police are investigating after an Amazon delivery driver was kidnapped in San Ramon, forced to withdraw money from a bank, and then released while at another bank in Dublin Saturday.
It started on San Ramon Valley Boulevard when the delivery driver was rear-ended by a man and a woman in an SUV, according to police.
The woman then got into the delivery truck and made the driver head toward a bank while the man followed from the other car, police said.
When they got to a bank near Crow Canyon Road and Crow Canyon Place, the pair forced the delivery driver to withdraw an unknown amount of money.
Police said they then took him to another bank in Dublin to make another withdrawal, but there was apparently a problem with the transaction. The pair then left the driver at the bank and took off.
The driver then called his supervisor, who reported the incident to the police.
It’s unclear if the pair had a weapon, according to police. There has been no word on any arrests.
A spokesperson for Amazon shared a statement with NBC Bay Area which read, in part, “We’re glad the driver is safe, but will defer to the police for any additional or official information.”
