ROCHESTER, Minn.-According to GasBuddy the current US average for gas is at $3.46 per gallon having risen over the past month from $3.25.
According to GasBuddy the lowest gas price in the past three months was January 22nd with both Minnesota and Iowa below $2.80.
AAA shows the current price of diesel at $4.027 and for the trucking industry the price is too high.
Local trucking company Yaggy Trucking has been serving the Med City for the past 30 years. With the rising gas prices, the company’s owner Steve Yaggy says it’s impacted the industry drastically.
Yaggy says, “Cost are going up, such as fuel wages everything that we do, truck prices and parts. Everything is up right now and you add fuel to it, it’s causing a lot of my peers to go out of business just because they can’t charge enough to cover all the expenses.”
According to GasBuddy since the end of January gas prices have been trending upwards.
For Yaggy, he’d like to see prices go back down. “We’re a moving society, a mobile society. Everything we do takes fuel to go recreation or work or putting food on the shelves. I’d like to see the fuel go down, I’d like to see it stay down use more of our domestic resources to accomplish that.”
