BRIDGEPORT, CT (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police arrested a Central Falls man Monday afternoon after a road rage incident in which the suspect allegedly brandished a gun at a tow truck driver.
Troopers located a black sedan with front end damage, matching the description given by the complainant, and initiated a stop.
The trooper ordered Dae Jesus Acosta, 24, to exit the vehicle and he was subjected to search.
Before the search could be initiated, Acosta allegedly became combative and uncooperative and was placed in handcuffs and secured in the cruiser.
Troopers asked Acosta if there was a firearm in his vehicle, to which he responded there was not.
A search of the vehicle produced a black BB gun that was processed as evidence.
After meeting with the complainant, troopers were informed that he was operating a tow truck on I-95 southbound when a black sedan attempted to merge into his lane off exit 15.
The sedan then maneuvered in front of the tow truck and reduced its speed to 5 mph.
The complainant said that the other driver was wearing a black mask, and he then moved the tow truck to the middle lane.
The sedan driver then moved to the left lane, pulled alongside the tow truck and pointed a black handgun at the complainant while demanding he pull over.
Acosta was subsequently charged with illegal possession of a weapon in motor vehicle, interfering with officer/resisting, breach of peace in the second degree and threatening in the first degree/displaying a firearm.
He was ordered held on $30,000 cash/surety bond and transferred to the Connecticut Department of Correction pending an April 30 arraignment in Stamford.
