Tanglewood Golf Course in Pulaski Township is for sale for $1.5 million, according to Loopnet, an online marketplace for commercial property.
The owners could not be reached.
The former owners, Bruce and Jody Clingan, sold the golf course at 318 Tanglewood Road east of New Bedford in 2014 to Art Hawk and Ben Thomas. The property is owned by Tanglewood Land Co. in Monroeville, according to a real estate transfer at the Lawrence County courthouse.
Thomas, also the owner of Thomas Rigging and Construction in the Pittsburgh area, died on Oct. 12. Hawk’s wife also passed away since buying the golf course, Jody said.
Bruce understands the two men had been trying sell Tanglewood for about two or three years.
“Both have other businesses,” he said. “Art owns 3 Lakes Golf Course in Pittsburgh and Ben had a trucking business. He hauled cars back and forth to Florida.”
Bruce said a few potential buyers have looked at the golf course and he understands an offer was made.
“I think they will have a hard time selling for price they want,” he said.
The Clingans sold the 200-acre golf course during an auction for $620,000. Bruce, 82, and Jody, 72, want to retire.
The Clingan family developed the one-time farm into the golf course in the early 1960s. In 1963, the first nine holes opened and in 1969 they bought 100 more acres for another nine holes.
